Downtown Hollywood is more than great food. It boasts a top-notch Art and Culture Center, a lively mural scene that can be enjoyed without the hustle and bustle of Wynwood, Cinema Paradiso, a modern art house movie theatre, monthly ArtWalk Events, and the ArtsPark at Young Circle whose amphitheater features free family movie nights and live musical entertainment.
Live in Parkside, and all of these enjoyments are right at your doorstep.
Art and Culture Center Hollywood
Located just East of Young Circle is the Art and Culture Center Hollywood. Housed in a historic 1924 mansion, the Center has become a South Florida leader in presenting exhibitions that champion cutting-edge new work of the highest artistic standards.
If you have children, they will enjoy the award-winning arts education programs offered by the Art and Culture Center. In addition to its gallery space, the Center also manages a series of live performance events and is about to expand its historic Kagey Mansion with an exquisite modern addition that will house its education facilities.
The Downtown Murals
Enjoy the vibrant energy of curated murals that are sprinkled throughout Downtown. These murals were created by local, national and international artists under the auspices of The Downtown Hollywood Mural Project, a venture of Hollywood’s Community Redevelopment Agency.
Savor the murals on your daily strolls through Downtown. Or take a guided Hollywood Mural Project Walking Tour, offered every third Saturday of the month during the Downtown ArtWalk, and learn more about the inspiring artists who created Downtown’s gorgeous murals.
Forget any notion you may have of an aging art house movie theatre that is ill-equipped and shabby around the edges. At Cinema Paradiso, Downtown’s jewel of a movie theatre, audiences enjoy state-of-the-art sound and projection in 82 seductively comfortable stadium seats that rival the best seating in any chain movie house.
Cinema Paradiso’s programming includes indie and independent films as well as first-run releases from all major Hollywood film studios. It is also one of the venues for the Annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. End your movie date with dinner at one of the sumptuous restaurants just outside of Cinema Paradiso or pick up a gelato for your stroll home.
